Work With Dr. Eric Weiss | Physician Wealth Mentorship
Heart Surgeon · Investor · Entrepreneur

The salary was never the wealth plan.

Physicians did everything right: the training, the debt, the decade of deferral. Then the income finally arrived, and with it an uncomfortable discovery, that a high salary is not the same thing as wealth. I teach doctors to build wealth the way I built mine: through ownership, calculated risk, and asymmetric opportunity.

The problem no one is talking about

A high income can make you feel wealthy. It doesn’t make you wealthy.

For generations, medicine carried an implicit promise: work hard, complete your training, earn an exceptional income, and wealth would follow as a matter of course. That promise has quietly expired. The debt is larger, the training longer, inflation more corrosive, and the destination itself has moved.

Physicians have to move with it. The critical error is mistaking income for wealth. Income supplies capital. What you do with that capital determines whether you spend a career trading hours for money or begin assembling assets that produce wealth independent of another hour with patients.

Businesses. Real estate. Equity. Investments. Ownership.

That is the shift that transformed my financial life.

Ownership changes everything.

Eric’s story

From income to ownership

I finished training carrying roughly $180,000 in debt, alongside a surgeon’s income. The income was useful. It was never the engine of wealth.

I began acquiring assets, building businesses, and investing in real estate, pursuing opportunities where I understood the downside completely and the upside stood disproportionate to it.

Over roughly the following decade, that discipline compounded into a net worth exceeding $20 million.

I still operate. I still invest. And I now teach physicians the framework I wish someone had handed me the day I finished training.

I didn’t earn my way there.
I owned my way there.

The framework

How I think about building wealth.

  1. 01

    Downside first

Before I consider what an opportunity might return, I want to understand precisely what it could cost. What can go wrong? What protects the capital? What happens if I am wrong?

  2. 02

    Asymmetric upside

I pursue opportunities where the potential upside is meaningfully greater than the downside I accept in order to pursue it.

  3. 03

    Ownership

Income creates capital. Ownership gives that capital the ability to compound through businesses, real estate, equity, and other productive assets.

You don’t build wealth by taking more risk.
You build it by taking better risk.
